
An alumnus of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) College of Law was announced by the Supreme Court as one of the topnotchers of the recently concluded 2019 Philippine Bar Examinations, April 29.
Atty. Jun Dexter H. Rojas gained an average score of 87.5765% - the ninth-highest score out of 7,856 other examinees.
Along with Rojas, 44 other PUP graduates also passed the exam; bringing PUP's total passing rate to 70%.
The Office of the Dean of the College of Law sent their regards through a post on the PUP College of Law Research Corps’ Facebook page:
"Congratulations to the new PUP lawyers! You have always had our faith that you could do it! We have witnessed how you have put in your utmost efforts and dedication to achieve this goal and this is your reward. Welcome to the legal profession!" the statement reads.
According to PUP's update about the bar exam, "Rojas is the first PUP law graduate to have landed in the BAR topnotchers' list."
Aside from Rojas' achievement, in 2016, PUP College of Law also recorded a 100 percent passing rate.
The total percentage of the Bar exam passers has increased as well, from 22.07% in 2018, it climbed up to 27.36% in 2019.
Upon releasing the bar exam results, Associate Justice Marvic Leonen, chairman of the 2020 Bar examinations, issued Bar Bulletin No.11.s.20 postponing this year's bar exams to "sometime in 2021" due to the coronavirus pandemic.
